Thinking about entering EXHUMED this year?

prepping for Exhumed 2012 |
Our family band, The Daisy Ukes, consisting of 5 ukes 4 vocalists entered Exhumed 2012. We really loved this experience and thoroughly enjoyed the final at Rooty Hill RSL.
We want to encourage you to enter this year.
Exhumed is a unique music comp for real people who love music.
So, why should you enter this years competition?
If you simply love music, melody and harmony and enjoy playing, singing, laughing (crying) with good friends and family you will love this competition.
Exhumed is for you if you appreciate that music is not simply about a business, its not about world domination. This competition has a warm, genuine feel. It's a little bit tongue in cheek, and it's a lot of fun, BUT I think Exhumed is very serious in its treatment of bands.
There's definitely a place for such competitions. And there are comps out there like it.
However, it's the personality and the tone that makes Exhumed very attractive and meaningful. Exhumed is all about music and people and relationships. Exhumed celebrates life, community and music. It's not about humiliating people. It's genuine.
Age is no restriction (it's the only essential in fact) and you don't need a burning desire to give up your day job. You probably enjoy what you do and you love playing in a band as well. With Exhumed, you truly can have it all.
Exhumed proudly states that it exists for the "never weres". Exhumed bands have well and truly embraced their "never wereness" and it doesn't bother them. ABC 702's James Valentine, who's personality sets the tone in all aspects of this comp, is to be congratulated for his part in pursuing a vision for an authentic music/band competition for real people, living real lives, working real jobs and/or caring for families. He is refreshingly, offering an alternative in this era of The Voice, American Idol and XFactor. I can't wait to watch the 5 week series on ABC TV later this year.
For your cover, find a really great song. Perhaps something that's quite removed from your genre, then try it. That's why Soft Cell's version of Tainted Love worked well for The Daisy Ukes.
Ukuleles playing a classic 80's synth techno song was always going to be memorable!
We played around with the arrangement. We had to keep it simple and keep the melody true so that people could instantly recognize it. It was a fun song to perform at Rooty Hill RSL. Secondly, throw in an original if you write. This is always rewarding and such a privilege to perform your own stuff to a warm, welcoming audience.
Now, if any of this resonates with you, get your band together and get your entry done and enjoy the Exhumed experience in 2013.

Exhumed is a valid band competition.
